The Three Musketeers, 'All for one?', a Quick Nonspoiler #Review by Kev
Europe is on the verge of total war and only the Three Musketeers can prevent it.
Okay, when I said ‘quick’ above, I especially mean it this time. You are about to see something I do not normally do, post a review and tell you not to go see it.
First, let me get this out of the way, the set design and costumes for The Three Musketeers are fabulous.
The effects were good. They would probably great if they are seen in 3D where they were designed to be viewed, but look flat in 2D.
I tried my best to like this movie, I really did. The script is so shallow the actors have very little to work with and can barely get the bottoms of their feet wet. It teeters on the edge of ludicrous just long enough to get you to the end and the last few fight scenes before falling off the edge into ridiculousness and faulty logic.
The one bright spot in the acting is Freddie Fox who plays King Louis XIII nearly perfect, exactly how you would believe the King would act. Not to say the others phoned it in, there just was not a compelling story to be seen anywhere within sight of this film.
Which is a shame, this reimagining concept could have been epic.
If you insist on spending your money, watch it in 3D to get your money’s worth because, apparently, that is where the budget went after paying the actors large sums of money to appear in this dog.
Rather than go see The Three Musketeers, I recommend you go see at least one of the other movies that are in theaters right now: Drive, 50/50, Real Steel, or The Thing.
Once you rent this movie, as you will inevitably do, you will thank me.
